Geoffrey Multimedia is owned and operated by Edwin James Lynch who has been making websites since 1998. Edwin has a Communications Degree, a Multimedia Diploma and a Certificate in Search Engine Marketing. Besides building websites for small businesses, Edwin also teaches part-time at Curtin University (web design, media production, computer programming). He cut his teeth building Government websites (Conservation Commission, Forest Products Commission and The Education Department) in 1997 before opening Geoffrey Multimedia officially in 1998.
GMM sites are designed to international standards as outlined by the World Wide Web Consortium. They are Search Engine Optimized (SEO) – making it easier for people to find via search engines. Lean code ensures up-to-date, fast-loading sites. Real time, secure E-commerce, Paypal shopping carts and product databases can be built alongside simple 5 or 6 page business websites.
These days, sites are usually maintained by clients using the robust WordPress Content Management System (CMS) as it’s easier to build and implement. GMM can also work with other CMS systems such as Joomla or Drupal or we can design a CMS for your specific needs. Sites without a CMS are maintained in-house very inexpensively. We do not ask clients to sign website update contracts.
To service a select, small group of clients effectively. Geoffrey Multimedia prefers to give personal, one-on-one service within a reasonable time-frame and for a fraction of the cost normally charged by larger companies. We have almost no overheads. Edwin works from home in Como, near Perth in Western Australia and, if necessary, will engage the services of a programmer. You will be charged a rate equal to the programmer’s rate + the designer’s rate, should additional services be required.
By working directly with your designer and programmer, communication is clear. Fees are communicated in writing (usually email) before any work begins and you will not be asked to sign an update contract or commit to further work once your site is up. Having said that, pretty much all clients use Geoffrey Multimedia for updates as our prices are very competitive at $85/hr.
Geoffrey is the business mascot. Edwin designed a cartoon character for a fictitious business stationery set at TAFE College back in 1997. Then a professional cartoonist (Jeremy Reston) redesigned him. The original Company motto was “Geoffrey Multimedia – the multimedia company with a man’s name.” Little did we know that Geoffrey would become a real entity.
Having a successful website is similar to running a second business. You need to update, maintain and invest time – just like any real business. A lot of people don’t do that and so their sites tend to age. We encourage frequent updating.
