I apologise to people who have received “I’m sorry but I’m much too busy to do your website” email recently, but it’s true! Without actually going the next step (face-lifting this site, getting in a bunch of employees, buying an office and – the most appalling idea of all – floating Geoffrey! on the ASX) I can’t commit to any more work presently. What I can do for new clients (for free) is sit with you over a 1hr coffee / green tea / chamomile and point you in the right direction. I’ve had so many work calls that Telstra cut my phone line yesterday!
Yes – that phone company is really starting to annoy me with it’s attitude. You’d think it was a bank. I’m really angry and I don’t mind telling you. I pay all my bills on time and last month – because Telstra changed their BPAY codes – my internet payment went into the wrong account and I was suddenly without a phone line. No letter, no email, no nothing. I assumed the bill had been paid like usual. They had the money all right – but it wasn’t in my account because of the BPAY code change. To make matters worse, they still wanted to charge me the $50 reconnection fee. Can you believe it? When I asked (now that I was disconnected) if it would be easier to transfer to another service provider, they quickly waived the reconnection fee. Well. Wasn’t that bloody nice?
I’ve been thinking about defecting to iinet. Anybody had any thoughts on those guys? Thanks to Telstra – the decision to defect is now much easier and sooner than I thought. The maths on Telstra is easy to do. There’s no need to vote with your feet. Use your wallet!
I pay $30 a month for line rental, $20 a month for LOCAL calls and $50 a month (to iinet) for the internet. That’s $100 per month, right!? Iinet are offering the whole shebang for $60 a month – including free local and national calls and 5c/min calls to USA and UK.
So I’m there, baby!
Until Telstra fix up my phone line, you can contact me here for now.
Ugh!
